Welcome to Bingham Day Nursery

As a group we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfil their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

We understand that when parents choose to use our services they need to know that the provision will keep their children safe and help them to thrive. At Early Years all our children are encouraged to undertake a wide range of activities based on the Early Years foundation Stage (EYFS), the government framework which provides that assurance. The overarching aim of EYFS is to help young children achieve the five Every child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic we-being.

Our Mission Statement

‘We offer individual quality childcare in a safe, caring,
loving and stimulating environment’

Our Partnership with Parents

As with all our Nurseries, BINGHAM DAY NURSERY operates an ‘Open Door’ policy and we constantly encourage parents/carers to feel that they can communicate freely with our qualified team members.

The Nursery, in accordance with Ofsted recommendations, has detailed Policies and Procedures in place to cover all eventualities, some of which are displayed on the main notice boards in both buildings, the remainder are contained within our Operational Plan, a copy of which is available in all the rooms.

Older rooms hold regular ‘Open Evenings’ to give parents/carers an opportunity to discuss their child’s achievements with staff. Notice boards in each room display menus and activities for the day, and parents will often be presented with an artistic masterpiece to take home at the end of the session.

We welcome your interest, whether it is finding out ‘what sort of day we have had’, or helping to support topic work within the rooms.

Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage identifies four distinct but complementary themes, development and the environment in which they are cared for and educated, the children are encouraged to develop as individuals supported by the following principles

  • Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and secure
  • Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person
  • The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning
  • Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.

Throughout the provision we endeavour to lay secure foundations for your child’s learning development, in accordance with the six definitive areas of learning identified by the EYFS

  • Personal, Social and emotional Development
  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development
  • Creative Development

Entitled the Early Learning Goals, your child will be encouraged and supported in each of the above areas, and their achievements will be recorded in their individual development folders, called ’All About Me’. The six areas of learning are promoted throughout the Nursery and development records are kept from birth through to school age - these can be viewed at anytime. The staff liase with parents on a regular basis to exchange information about the children, including activities undertaken outside of Nursery and achievements made within the home. These combined with photographs and pieces of the children’s work help to build a unique and personal keepsake of their days at Nursery.

Throughout the year children will be involved in a variety of special topics and ‘fun days’, to introduce them to a wide range of cultural festivals and charitable fundraising opportunities. Often featured in local newspaper articles, the Nursery has an ability to help the children grow and develop by creating exciting and interactive learning opportunities, lead through play within a traditional ‘village nursery’ atmosphere.
